John’s birthday is on April Fools Day believe it or not. The ex-cell wanted to surprise him so under the pretense of a dinner date, Shirley met John at Somerset at 7pm to HK Café for dinner. The ex-cell were to meet at Orchard at 7pm and walk over to surprise him at HK Café. So happened, Charity and I were at Bugis buying John’s cake and the super silly flower balloon which we were damn fascinated with and we were at the MRT platform to go to Orchard where who should we meet, but none other then John! I thought Char was joking at first because my back was facing John. I realised that it was real when I turned around and dang, I thought, there goes the surprise. However, Char fabricated a story that we were going to Chiu mian’s birthday party and boy, did John look kinda sad. I was trying to control my laughing fit at the same time and Char kept pleading at me with her eyes to stop laughing. I mean, I really couldn’t believe it, what were the chances of this happening? 1 in a million! Apparently, John had just finished work and was heading to meet Shirley and the silly flower balloon caught his eye first then he saw us. Whew, the surprise wasn’t totally spoilt so we went into different cabins and headed to Orchard. The MRT ride was crowded to the max and with that big balloon? You really can’t imagine. Many people on the MRT were amused with the balloon and since it was so damn crowded, I had to hold the balloon over my head like an umbrella, thanks ah Char, laughing at me doesn’t make it any easier. Anyway, the surprise turned out good and John was just amused as we related our story to him. Happy last single birthday John!
